M2-HSS + Black Nitide treatment. Case hardened steel offering ~ 50% longer tool life over M2-HSS (easier to profile than V3-HSS).
Black nitride steel is M2-HSS that has been carbon nitrided to case harden the cutting edge of the knife to 72 HRc hardness providing nearly 50% longer tool life over regular M2. In addition the steel is black oxided to prevent rust and pitch build up. Much easier to shape and profile grind than V3-HSS. Great for hardwoods and long production runs.
